FULL-BODIED CARVED PINE TUNA FISH TRADE SIGN, CA. 1930S. Prior Atlantic City, N.J. usage with original hanging chains that hung from a ceiling beam for 20+ years at Historic Smithville Village through 1992, when purchased at deaccessioning auction. 31” H x 96” L x 38” W. Exhibited: Noyes Museum, Oceanville, NJ, installed with the permanent collection, 1993-1994. Tuckerton Seaport Museum, Tuckerton, NJ "Key Ingredients: America by Food" (9/6/08-10/19/08; organized by The Smithsonian Institution). Condition: In overall fine/good condition. Dorsal and lower fins fixed while pectoral and pelvic fins are doweled. Proper left pelvic fin replaced. Nicks (tail and pectoral fins), abrasions, and delamniation throughout. Track marks underneath indicate that it had been canvas-covered at some point.
