EARLY 20TH C. CARVED AND GILT-PAINTED PINE SPREAD EAGLE. The stylized eagle clutching a snake with forward-canted spread wings and applied red painted metal eyes. Inscribed “ZODD / KYEGT” in pencil on verso. 27 1/2” H x 52 1/4” W x 10 1/4” D. Condition: In overall good condition, retaining period hardware. Evidence of multiple paint campaigns (earlier green paint on snake). The legs with stabilized breaks from the talons. Abrasions and light paint loss to the top of the wings and the tail feather.
