19TH C., O/C, PORTRAIT OF GEORGE WASHINGTON. American School, appears to retain period strainer and frame, canvas lined, 29 1/4” x 21 1/2”, frame 33 1/4” x 26 1/2”.   Condition: Examined under UV and LED lights. Craquelure throughout and some fine inpainting to the craquelure on the nose and forehead above proper right eye. A two-inch repaired tear on the proper left shoulder and a small area of inpainting to the cravat. Very light strainer and frame abrasion.

Condition: Examined under LED and UV light. Overall good with fine brushstrokes and detail. Aged varnish throughout. The board with slight warp on the along the upper and lower edges, causing some discoloration, only detectable under UV light.  A small 1/4” abrasion l.l.

The Sangre de Cristo mountains are the southernmost subrange of the Rocky Mountains, running from south central Colorado into northern New Mexico. The second peak from the left on recto contains a pencil inscription “Emery”. Emery Peak is a 7,322 ft. mountain northeast of the Sangre de Cristo range. Sight 10 1/2” x 13 1/2”, frame 18 3/4” x 21”.   Condition: examined out of frame and paper is applied to card stock (see images)  appears in overall very good condition with nicely aged toning throughout.

William Slaughter (1923-2003) was a Lutheran pastor and WWII United States Air Force veteran, who, upon his travels with the ministry in Texas and Mexico, began his career as a prodigious self-taught painter, depicting a wide-range of western subjects. Texas blue bonnets is perhaps his most popular subject matter, exhibiting the artist’s meticulous process and innate ability to create highly vibrant and dimensional realist landscapes. Condition: Examined under UV and LED lights. In overall very good condition with a multitude of textures. The large cotton wood c.r. with very fine light craquelure. - $8,000

The original label in central compartment reads “Matthew Egerton, Cabinet Maker In Burnet Street. New Brunswick, [N.J.]” Original period stamped eagle and shield brass and pleasing original finish. 43” H X 42” W (case) X 43” W (overall) X 21.75” D. Condition: structurally sound and original. Some cosmetic blemishes including, some light surface scratching throughout, some drawer edges have chipping and small losses to inlay. Both front feet with re-glued original fractured pieces at toe (see images) right rear and front right toes have small replaced splices. Tight shrinkage crack on top.

Leaded and stained glass shade in a stylized quatrefoil shape, 18 3/4” dia x 7” H (shade) patinated metal base with four socket light cluster (Bryant), 24”  overall height. Heat cap marked “53 D” no indication of other markings. Condition: shade appears to be tight with no indication of repair, approx 12 hairline fractures (most in small pieces) on glass, base with some patination loss, felt of bottom loose, as found in estate and shows a fair amount of build up, would benefit fit from a light cleaning.

Condition: the case is in very good original condition with the exception of old repair work done to the feet, patch to swans neck back facing original, pierced bonnet backed with fabric some holes however wood work not damaged, dial of clock with some flaking but original paint, works restored in 2007 by The British Clockmaker, VT, see paperwork.
