Lot No. 202: Fine and rare Japanese elephant, silvered and other metals with gold highlights and jeweled diamond and pearls, signed, 23"H X 22"L. Prov: Consigned directly from the Gary family, This elephant was gifted to the co-founder and President of US Steel, Judge Elbert Henry Gary, of Gary IN by the Emperor of Japan Hirohito for giving Japan the modern process for steel making. Cond: there is some gilt loss and some rivets missing, break in drape that hangs from her arm, one pin in hair missing, flower between shoulder blades.
