An onsite auction is a nostalgic way to transfer ownership of personal property from one party to another.
The "on-site" auction is a term used when the auction is held on the grounds of an estate. It's an effective way to sell personal property, and our firm, having conducted over 600 in the last 40 years, has mastered the concept.
The process begins with a consultation by a Smith representative. This person can advise you if it's feasible to conduct an on-site auction. Factors for consideration would be is there ample property for an auction i.e. space near the house for tents, and near-by parking for the buyers, is there enough merchandise both in quality and quantity to draw the buyers, and finally: will the town or city allow it?
The auction setup generally happens a couple of days prior to the scheduled auction. Smith's will supply all the neccessy equipment and labor to conduct the auction including the tents, seating, platforms, tables, showcases, and lighting, along with the catering, restroom facilities, and appropriate insurances.

The viewing generally begins at 8:30 am the morning of the auction. The items at this time are displayed under an exhibit tent. The public is usually not allowed in the house. By 10 am the sale begins, and over the next 5 hours some 400-500 lots will cross the auction block. By day's end the merchandise is purchased and trucked away and the grounds are cleaned and left as found.
